📏 How to Take Your Measurements

Please use a flexible measuring tape and stand in front of a mirror for accuracy. Measure snugly, but not tightly.

👗 For Women:
  • Neck:

The circumference around the base of the neck where a shirt collar would naturally sit.

                     How to Measure:

  1. Wrap the measuring tape around the neck, starting from the base.
  2. Leave a finger’s width inside the tape to allow for comfort.
  3. Ensure the tape is level and not too tight.
  • Armhole:

The circumference around the shoulder socket — where the sleeve will attach to the bodice.

                   How to Measure:

  1. Start at the top of the shoulder.
  2. Bring the tape around the armpit and back to the starting point, forming a loop around the armhole.
  3. Keep the arm relaxed at the side while measuring.
  • Sleeve Length:

The length from the shoulder point to the wrist bone.

                      How to Measure:

  1. Place the tape at the shoulder seam (where a sleeve would begin).
  2. Measure down the arm to the wrist.
  3. Keep the arm slightly bent for accuracy.
  • Skirt Length:

The vertical length from the waist to the desired hemline of the skirt.

                       How to Measure:

  1. Place the tape at the natural waistline (the narrowest part of the torso).
  2. Measure down to the preferred skirt length (e.g., knee, calf, or ankle).
  3. Stand upright while measuring for a straight and accurate line.
  • Thigh:

The circumference of the upper thigh, just below the buttocks.

                     How to Measure:

  1. Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of the thigh.
  2. Keep the tape horizontal and snug but not tight.
  3. Measure both thighs to ensure symmetry (if needed).
  • Knee:

The circumference around the knee cap area.

                       How to Measure:

  1. Stand upright with legs straight but relaxed.
  2. Wrap the tape around the center of the knee cap.
  3. Ensure the tape is horizontal and not tight.
  • Full Body Length:

The vertical length from the top of the shoulder down to the ankle or desired hemline.

                        How to Measure:

  1. Start at the top of the shoulder (near the neck).
  2. Measure down through the bust, waist, and hips to the desired end point (e.g., ankle or floor).
  3. Make sure the person stands tall and straight for accuracy.
  • Bust:

The circumference around the fullest part of the chest/bust.

                         How to Measure:

  1. Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the bust.
  2. Ensure the tape is level all the way around and not too tight.
  3. Keep arms relaxed at the sides while measuring.
  • Waist:

The circumference of the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the belly button.

                     How to Measure:

  1. Find the natural waist (bend slightly to the side — where the body creases is the natural waistline).
  2. Wrap the tape around this point, keeping it parallel to the floor.
  3. Don’t pull too tight; allow the tape to rest comfortably.
  • Hips:

The circumference around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks.

                       How to Measure:

  1. Stand with feet together.
  2. Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the hips/bottom (usually about 7–9 inches below the waist).
  3. Ensure the tape stays horizontal and flat against the body.
  • Shoulder Width:

The distance from one shoulder bone (acromion) to the other across the upper back.

                     How to Measure:

  1. Place one end of the tape at the tip of one shoulder (where the sleeve seam typically sits).
  2. Stretch the tape across the back to the same point on the opposite shoulder.
  3. Keep the tape slightly curved along the shoulder line, not straight across the neck.
  • Arm Length:

The distance from the shoulder seam to the wrist bone.

                   How to Measure:

  1. With the arm slightly bent, start at the shoulder point (where a shirt sleeve begins).
  2. Measure down the outer arm, past the elbow, to the wrist bone.
  3. Bending the elbow slightly mimics how the arm will be when worn.
  • Inseam:

The vertical length from the top of the inner thigh down to the ankle.

                    How to Measure:

  1. Stand with feet slightly apart.
  2. Measure from the crotch seam (or top of inner thigh) to the desired pant length – typically the bottom of the ankle.
  3. It’s helpful to wear fitted trousers or use a second person for accuracy
👔 For Men:

You can apply the women guide above for men. However, use the guide below for the measurement below.

  • Crotch Depth

The vertical distance from the waistline to the bottom of the crotch while seated.
                     How to Measure:

  1. Sit upright on a flat chair or bench with knees at a 90-degree angle.
  2. Place the tape at the side of the waist and measure down to the hard surface of the seat, passing over the side of the thigh.
  3. This determines how much room is needed from waist to crotch in trousers or pants.

Note: Used to ensure pants sit comfortably without pulling or sagging.

  • Bicep (Upper Arm)

The circumference of the widest part of the upper arm, usually halfway between the shoulder and elbow.
                     How to Measure:

  1. Let the arm hang loosely at the side (or slightly bent for muscle fit).
  2. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of the upper arm (biceps).
  3. Ensure the tape is flat and not pressing into the skin.

Note: Important for sleeve fittings, especially for tailored shirts and jackets.

  • Wrist

The circumference around the wrist bone.
                     How to Measure:

  1. Wrap the tape around the narrowest part of the wrist, just above the hand.
  2. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

Note: Used for cuff sizing and accessories like watches and bracelets.

  • Ankle

The circumference around the narrowest part above the ankle bone.
                     How to Measure:

  1. Stand with feet flat on the ground.
  2. Wrap the measuring tape around the slimmest part of the ankle.
  3. Make sure the tape lies flat and doesn’t compress the skin.

Note: Useful for joggers, trousers, or traditional outfits like fitted kaftans.
